Sara Blakely was selling fax machines door-to-door when she had the idea for Spanx. No fashion experience. No manufacturing connections. No business background. Just those two beliefs.

She kept both beliefs through two years of rejections from every manufacturer she pitched. Every reasonable person would’ve abandoned one. “The future can be better, I just don’t have the power.” Or “I have power, but this industry can’t actually change.”
