There’s a thing you haven’t said yes to.
You know the one. It’s been sitting in the back of your mind for weeks. Maybe months. Maybe longer than you’re willing to admit. The business. The move. The project. The conversation that would change everything.
Every time it surfaces, you push it back down. Not with a no. With something softer. Something that lets you keep your hands clean.
“I’m still thinking about it.”
“The timing isn’t right.”
“Maybe.”
And then you go on with your day. Do the tasks. Answer the emails. Show up where you’re supposed to show up. Feeling, underneath all of it, a low hum of something you can’t quite name. Not anxiety, exactly. More like the sound of a door you keep walking past without opening.
You tell yourself you’re being thoughtful. Patient. Strategic.
You’re not. You’re hiding. And maybe is the place you hide.
